It’s Not Only Film That Can Hide Long-Forgotten Surprises . . .

. . . It’s often said (including by me) that one of the attractions of shooting film, is that until you actually come to develop a roll, you just never know what pictorial delights may (or may not) be waiting for you.

Well the same thing happened to me yesterday morning, but it wasn’t from a roll of film.

Just recently I purchased a new and larger SD card for the Fuji X-E1. Not that there was anything wrong with the old one. It’s just that a batch of 32GB Sandisk cards came up for sale on eBay and at a price I couldn’t believe, so I bought one.

Now usually I would format the ‘old’ card ready for whatever use I might find for it, but before doing so I’d take a quick look via the card reader to make sure there was nothing of importance on there.

Well would you believe it, there were 2 photographs taken at the beginning of September 2014 from a short day trip to Keswick, in the Lake District. These pictures were the very last ones I took before my ill-fated trip to Manchester in October.

I’d just plain forgotten about them. 🙂

  1. Hi Kevin, It takes a great deal of balls to bring this much honesty to a blog and I commend you for it !
We all struggle from time to time to find the right mind set for Street Photography, I find shooting with a Holga takes the pressure off when my mojo is low and makes photography feel more like play, the pictures aren’t great but it makes me smile !

    Best wishes.
